Store hours, banks and more, what’s open and closed in the US.

(CNN) — After celebrating the New Year, many people also need to sort out some things, whether it is a return trip or going to the supermarket.

Many retailers, grocery stores and pharmacies will remain open New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, although some have adjusted their hours.

This year, New Year’s Eve falls on a Sunday, so some services like banking or mail delivery will remain closed.

Here’s what’s open and closed on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Retailers

• Target will be open from 8am to 10pm local time on December 31st. On New Year’s Day, Target stores will open a little later, at 9 a.m., and close at 10 p.m.
• Walmart will be open both days.
• JCPenney stores will open at 11 a.m. on New Year’s Eve, and you’ll need to check your local store’s hours for closing time. On New Year’s Day, stores will be open from 11am to 6pm local time.
• Most Macy’s stores will be open from 10am to 7pm on New Year’s Eve and will operate regular hours on New Year’s Day.
• TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra and HomeSense stores will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
• Kohl’s will be open from 9am to 7pm on New Year’s Eve and from 10am to 9pm on New Year’s Day.

Supermarket

• Whole Foods is open both days with modified hours depending on location. Kroger will be open as normal.
• Aldi closes early on New Year’s Eve and will remain closed on New Year’s Day.
• Trader Joe’s will close at 5pm on New Year’s Eve and remain closed throughout New Year’s Day.
• Costco’s New Year’s Eve hours are 8:30am to 5pm and they will be closed on New Year’s Day.
• Wegmans will close at 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and reopen at 6 a.m. on New Year’s Day, except for the New York City Astor Place and Brooklyn stores, which will open at 7 a.m.

• Safeway and Albertsons stores will be open December 31 and January 1.
• Jewel-Osco, ACME and Shaw’s stores and pharmacies will be open with reduced hours on New Year’s Eve. Shops will be open on New Year’s Day, but most pharmacies will be closed.
• Vons stores and pharmacies will be open New Year’s Eve. They will be open with modified hours on New Year’s Day, although their pharmacies will be closed.
• Tom Thumb stores and pharmacies will remain open on New Year’s Eve, although pharmacies will have reduced hours. Tom Thumb stores will remain open and pharmacies will be closed on New Year’s Day.

CVS said many locations will remain open through the New Year, but you should check with local stores before heading there as some may have reduced hours or be closed.

Rite Aid stores will be open regular hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Walgreens will be open during regular business hours on New Year’s Day and New Year’s Eve, but pharmacy hours vary by location.

Postal Service

The United States Postal Service will not deliver mail on New Year’s Day.

There is no UPS pickup or delivery service on New Year’s Day, but their Express Critical service is available. FedEx will not conduct regular pickup and deliveries on New Year’s Eve, but its home delivery, office delivery and critical customs services will remain open. FedEx will be closed on New Year’s Day, except for its Custom Critical service.

banks

Most banks observe Federal Reserve bank holidays, so most teller services will be closed on New Year’s Day. As always, you can use mobile banking and ATM services.

The New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ will not trade on New Year’s Day.
