Toronto responded with an 8–2 run, including six points from Scotty Barnes, but a Cunningham jumper made the score 114–107. The Pistons made three consecutive stops against Siakam. Another Cunningham jumper extended the lead to nine with 1:34 remaining.

Siakam’s three-pointer with 17 seconds remaining made the score 126–122, but the Pistons won from the line. Gary Trent Jr. made a three-pointer with one second remaining, but the celebration had already begun.

“I challenged both (Siakam) and Scottie at halftime,” Rajakovic said. “I told them we needed more from them in the second half and they both did a really good job.”

“We missed some free throws and missed a lot of layups that we normally do,” Rajkovic said.
